All four of our themes already ship in more than sixty languages, with right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu. If yours is one of them, you switch language in Ghost's settings and you are done, at no cost. This service is for everything else: a custom theme, another author's theme, a language nobody has done yet, or wording you want changed rather than translated.

What machine
translation misses.
Running a theme through an automatic translator gets you roughly eighty per cent of the words and none of the places they break.
Words that are longer in your language
German and Finnish routinely double the length of an English button label. The translation is correct and the button is broken. Someone has to look at the page to catch that.
Sentences built from pieces
Things like "5 min read" or "3 posts tagged Politics" are assembled at the last moment, and the order changes by language. Translated word by word, they come out as nonsense.
The parts nobody thinks to check
The sign-up flow, the confirmation emails, the 404 page, the search box with no results. Readers hit all of them, and they are usually the last things anyone translates.
Languages that read the other way
Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu need the whole layout mirrored, not just the text swapped. Menus, arrows, and spacing all move. Skip it and the page reads as broken.

Running one site in several languages at once. Ghost has no built-in way to do this, so it needs a structure designed for your case. Ask and we will tell you the honest options.
Automatic on-the-fly translation. Those are monthly services that translate pages as readers load them. They cost every month and read like machines. We can point you at them, but we do not resell them.
Design changes. If a language needs a different font or a reworked layout, that is separate work. Theme customization

We pull every word out of the theme
Including the ones that only appear in rare states: no search results, an expired link, a failed payment. You would be surprised how many themes hide English in those corners.

Translated, then reviewed by a speaker
Interface wording is short and easy to get subtly wrong, so it is reviewed by someone who reads the language rather than left as a machine's first guess. If you have a preferred term for something, we use yours.

Put back in and read on real pages
Every screen is looked at in the new language, on a phone as well as a desktop. Overflowing buttons, cramped menus, and dates in the wrong order get fixed here.

The wording lives in a plain file you can open and change. Preferring a different word later does not mean hiring anyone.
